After going through several cheaper mats that wore out quickly, I decided to try the Manduka PRO. I chose the Earth color in the Long 85" size, and it's exactly what I needed. The stability is incredible, and the 6mm thickness offers just the right amount of cushioning without feeling squishy. Love this mat! I got the Short 68" size in Midnight and it's perfect for my space. The density provides a fantastic, stable surface without being too hard. It’s also incredibly easy to clean after each session.
This mat feels very durable and the material is definitely high quality. I got the Sand color and it's quite lovely. However, the density, while providing great stability, is just a bit too hard for my knees in certain poses. I thought 6mm would be enough cushion, but it feels firmer than my old 4mm mat. I'll probably keep it for standing poses but get a different one for floor work.
This mat is truly fantastic for home practice; the density provides great support for my joints. I got the Thunder (Grey) in the Standard 71" length, and the feel is definitely premium. However, it's quite heavy at 7.5 lbs, so it's not ideal if you need to carry it around a lot. For a dedicated home setup, it's superb, but portability isn't its strong suit.
The construction of this mat is impressive; it feels like it will truly last a lifetime. I appreciate the closed-cell surface for keeping sweat out and making cleaning a breeze. My only minor complaint is that it can be a bit slippery when I get really sweaty in hot yoga, especially in downward dog.
