Good, but different
This cumin is definitely unique and adds an interesting depth to roasted vegetables. It has a lovely earthy aroma. However, its flavor is quite distinct from regular cumin, so be prepared for a different taste experience.
Our Wild Mountain Cumin has a savory, penetrating aroma and bright, umami flavor evocative of grilled meats and sweet caramelized onions. The tiny, oblong black seeds are hand-picked by foragers in the Hindu Kush mountains of Afghanistan. Botanically distinct from common cumin, our Wild Mountain Cumin is renowned in Afghanistan and throughout central and south Asia for its delicious flavor as well as its medicinal properties.

I was looking for a robust cumin flavor, but these whole seeds are much smaller than I anticipated and the aroma isn't as strong as I prefer. It didn't provide the impact I wanted in my chili. This might be better for very specific, subtle dishes.
I'm used to a much bolder cumin and found this variety to be a bit too subtle for my palate. Even after toasting, the flavor didn't really pop in my dishes the way I'd hoped. While it has a nice mild aroma, it just didn't deliver the punch I typically look for in a spice like cumin. It might be good for someone who prefers a very delicate seasoning, but it wasn't for me.
The flavor of these whole seeds is absolutely phenomenal, unlike any other cumin.
As someone who cooks a lot of Central Asian food, this wild cumin is essential. Its unique savory and bright notes are exactly what many traditional recipes call for. The quality of the whole seeds is evident.
