A bit too sour for me
It's very bright and sour, which is good, but sometimes a bit overpowering for my palate.
Our spectacular Cured Sumac is made using an ancient preservation technique, packing fresh, wild sumac berries in salt. A classic Middle Eastern finishing spice, swap it for lemon juice in any recipe or use it to add character and brightness to salads, fish, meat or dips. It has a bright, sour, salty and slightly fermented flavor. This is one of our most popular spices with home cooks and professional chefs alike!

This cured sumac has a wonderfully complex and bright flavor profile.
This cured sumac is incredible! I usually just use ground sumac, but the cured berries packed in salt offer a much more intense and complex flavor. It's perfectly sour, with a lovely underlying saltiness that eliminates the need for extra salt in many cases. I’ve enjoyed it sprinkled on avocado toast, in salad dressings, and as a finishing spice for grilled chicken. It's a wonderful way to add brightness.
This cured sumac instantly brightens up any dish with its sour and salty profile. It's become my go-to for adding zest to hummus and grilled halloumi. The quality is excellent and the 16 oz container means it lasts.
The flavor is very salty, which I expected, but the fermented note is a bit stronger than I prefer. It almost tastes a little too sharp for some of the dishes I typically use sumac in. I'm finding it hard to balance in more delicate recipes.
