The lightly smoky ancho chili brings a gentle fruity heat with its own notes of chocolate. Simmer 2 Tbsp with 1 cup of milk to make a rich mug of hot cocoa. We also recommend stirring it into coffee or using it in place of cocoa powder for baking. You can even dust it over buttered toast or warm yellow cake for a chili-flecked sweet treat. Because it’s made only from real ingredients — no thickeners, dairy powders, emulsifiers or artificial flavors — some sediment may settle at the bottom of the cup. This is natural — and delicious to scoop up with a spoon.

I was really disappointed with this hot chocolate. The chili flavor was extremely weak, almost non-existent, and it tasted mostly like bland cocoa. I followed the preparation instructions exactly, simmering with milk, but it lacked any of the promised rich, spicy, or smoky notes. It's definitely not what I expected from a 'Mexican Chili' hot chocolate.
The flavor profile just didn't work for me. I was hoping for more of a prominent chocolate taste with a subtle chili undertone, but the chili was a bit too forward for my preference. It felt more like a spicy drink with some chocolate notes, rather than the other way around.
