About this item
The rucking shoes
"They're built for all-terrain, and I use mine on asphalt every day. I murder running shoes in no time, but I can put over 1,000 miles (with 45# minimum) and 2-3 workouts/week on my Mackalls before it’s time for a new pair." — Jason, GORUCK Cofounder (former Green Beret)
Rucking is the foundation of Special Forces training and the Mackall™ is an off-road rucking machine. Maximum versatility and maximum support in a low top trail shoe named in honor of Camp Mackall, the home of Special Forces training.
Features
Aggressive triple compound outsole
Each section of the triple compound rubber outsole is designed to perform a specific function the best it possibly can. The forefoot rubber is formulated for increased grip with deep tread specifically shaped to grab the ground while shedding mud and debris. It wraps around the toes for additional protection against rocky terrain or when doing push-ups. The midfoot is formulated from a rock climbing compound and hardened for exceptional abrasion resistance — ideal for fast roping. The heel is more dense and formulated for extreme durability with an expanded heel strike area that won't break down over time or distance.
Rugged midsole
The midsole design wraps around the entire upper providing significantly more stability and maximum support.

Great shoe for rucking

I've been using these Mackalls for my weekly rucks, typically 10-15 miles with a 30lb pack. The support is top-notch, and my feet feel much better afterwards compared to my old running shoes. The grip on varied terrain is also a huge plus, very reliable.

These are incredibly stable, exactly what I needed for trail rucks.

Stiff and hot
Calvin T. · 2026-04-27 · Verified purchase
They provide good stability, which is essential for rucking, and the outsole has decent grip. However, the upper material feels a bit stiff and doesn't breathe as well as I'd hoped, making my feet feel hot during longer sessions in warmer weather. Not ideal for all-day comfort in humid conditions. I bought the Chiseled Stone + Gum in size 11.

Not quite what I expected
Eric T. · 2026-02-18 · Verified purchase
The concept of a dedicated rucking shoe is appealing, and these do offer decent stability. However, the shoe feels heavier than its advertised 11.5 oz for my size 10.5, and the overall construction seems a bit too rigid for varied training. My feet felt fatigued quicker than they do in other trail shoes. I'm finding them less versatile for daily use than I hoped.
