Very engaging toy

Which animal friends are hiding behind the colorful doors? Undo a lock or latch, swing open the numbered door or window, and count on finding fun when the animal picture beneath is revealed. The Melissa & Doug Latches Board for toddlers is made from smooth-sanded, solid-wood material that features different kinds of latches sized just right for little hands. The windows and doors open up to reveal fun surprises that can keep children engaged while they practice important skills. The activity board is an educational toy that helps little ones build fine and gross motor skills while learning colors, shapes, numbers, animals and more! Parents and older kids can engage with children by playing multiple games including counting animals behind the doors and windows, locating specific colors, and identifying the type of animals displayed. The wooden activity board makes a great gift for preschoolers ages three and older for hands-on, screen-free play. This product is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. The board itself is durable and well-made, although one of the latches sticks a little.
The board is fine, but some of the latches are a bit stiff for really small hands. My niece struggles with a couple of them, making it less engaging than I hoped. The concept is great, just wish the execution on the latches was smoother.
A few of the latches are a bit too fiddly for the age range.
My youngest is fascinated by all the different locks and doors. It's amazing to watch her concentration as she works out how to open each one. This board is excellent for problem-solving.
